DESCRIPTIONThis meeting will explore how collaborative team approach to project design and construction practices can advance solutions for the built environment. Through a project example and roundtable discussion with representatives from engineering design, building commissioning, and construction this forum will illustrate how collaborative efforts across multiple disciplines are instrumental in the successful design, construction and operations of facilities.

 

SPEAKER PROFILES:

Eric Kirkland PE, LEED AP

Director of Engineering for SmithGroup Dallas Office. Graduate of University of Michigan with Bachelors of Science Mechanical Engineering. Eric has 38 years of experience in engineering for building systems and has been a member of ASHRAE since 1992.  Eric has served as ASHRAE Central Chapter President and Chapter Regional Council Chairperson.  He is the recipient of two National ASHRAE Technology Awards.

Charles Cates, P.E., LEED AP, CEM, CBCP, CPD

Preconstruction Engineer for Dynamic Systems, Inc. (Mechanical Contractor) – Dallas, TX.  Graduate of Texas A&M University with Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineer, Masters of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from Cal-Poly and an Associates of Computer Aided Design from Tyler Junior College.  Charles has 25+ of experience in engineering and construction for building systems and along with being a licensed engineer in three disciplines (mechanical, electrical & fire protection) Charles is a licensed mechanical contractor in both Texas and Oklahoma.   Charles is an active member of ASHRAE (FW & Dallas) and ASPE.

Thomas P. Schlachter, P.E, TBE

Senior Project Engineer at Engineered Air Balance Company.  Graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana in 1982 with a Mechanical Engineering degree and started his career at EAB that same year. His work experience is extensive ranging from schools, commercial offices, universities, airports, hospitals, laboratories and vivarium’s. Each of these areas he has performed the actual TAB, sensor verification and control sequence verification. Today his duties include plan and submittal review, inspections, witnessing and performing HVAC product testing, assisting with project co-ordination and commissioning activities, all the while managing multiple TAB teams. Much of his carrier is associated with UT Southwestern Medical center, UTD and Children’s Medical Center.  He is active in ASHRAE, currently the Chairman of Technical Committee TC 7.7 Testing and Balancing, a member of Research Project Committees  1741 and Standard 79, both of which concern the performance testing of Fan Coil Units, and served as the chairman revising Guideline 11, “Field Testing HVAC Control Components.

A late fee of $10 will apply to begin at 10 pm two days prior to the meeting. 

Online registration closes at 9am on the day of the meeting. On-site registration is available. Please be prepared to pay cash, card, or check for the registration fee + $10 late fee.
