Hello Dallas ASHRAE Family!

As we move into October, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped make the start of our chapter year such a success. Despite one of the hottest and driest summers we can remember, our members have continued to show up, stay engaged, and support our chapter in incredible ways.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who participated in and supported our Fall Golf Tournament. After enduring months of relentless Texas heat, I think we were all pleasantly surprised when Mother Nature decided to give us a little assist. The overcast skies may have been the most popular tournament sponsors of the day! More importantly, it was wonderful to see so many members, sponsors, and guests enjoying great golf, great conversations, and great camaraderie. Events like these remind us that some of the strongest connections in our industry are built outside the office and on the course.

Our theme this year, Game On: Expanding the Bench, is about building a deeper and stronger chapter by creating opportunities for more members to participate, lead, and grow.

🏆 Momentum Matters

Championship teams aren't built overnight. They're built through consistency, commitment, and teamwork. Every meeting attended, every event supported, and every volunteer hour invested helps move us closer to our goals.

During the first months of the chapter year, we've welcomed new members, reconnected with familiar faces, and continued delivering high-quality technical programming. We've also seen strong participation from members who are looking for ways to become more involved.

That momentum is encouraging, but our real opportunity lies ahead. The strongest chapters don't simply maintain participation; they continually create opportunities for more people to join the team.

🤝 Expanding the Bench Through Engagement

One of the greatest strengths of the Dallas Chapter is the diversity of talent within our membership. We have experienced engineers, contractors, manufacturers, owners, educators, students, and young professionals who all bring unique perspectives and experiences.

A great opportunity to stay involved is our upcoming October 14th chapter meeting, where we'll be discussing the latest ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC code updates. As energy codes continue to evolve and influence the way we design, construct, and operate buildings, staying current is critical for all of us in the industry. Whether you're a design engineer, contractor, manufacturer, owner, or code official, this program will provide valuable insights into upcoming changes and what they could mean for your projects.

This is exactly the type of technical program that helps strengthen our chapter while providing professional development opportunities for our members.

This year, I encourage every member to think about one additional way they can engage with the chapter.

Maybe that means:

• Attending a chapter meeting for the first time.
• Joining a committee.
• Volunteering at an event.
• Inviting a coworker to attend with you.
• Mentoring a student or young engineer.
• Sharing your expertise through a chapter program.

Small actions have a significant impact. Every person who becomes involved expands our bench and strengthens our chapter.

🎯 The Attendance Challenge Continues

Our new Attendance Challenge is off to a great start, and it's exciting to see members already climbing the leaderboard.

Remember:

• Attend at least 75% of all technical and social events during the chapter year and earn a special recognition prize.
• The member who attends the most events overall will receive our Grand Prize and claim bragging rights as Dallas ASHRAE's most engaged member.

This challenge isn't just about prizes. It's about encouraging participation, strengthening relationships, and creating a culture of engagement throughout the chapter.

If you're keeping score, every event counts.

🚀 Developing Future Leaders

Perhaps the most important part of Expanding the Bench is developing future leaders.

One of the best examples of this was our recent Fall Golf Tournament. We had several members step up as one-day volunteers, helping with setup, registration check-in, raffle ticket sales, and other event logistics. These volunteers played a critical role in the success of the tournament, and we're incredibly grateful for their time and enthusiasm.

The great thing about volunteering is that getting involved doesn't require a large commitment. Whether you can give a few hours at an event, serve on a committee, or help with a specific project, every contribution makes a difference. Many of our current chapter leaders started by simply raising their hand to help when needed.

That's how successful organizations grow. They invest in people, and people grow through involvement.

As we pursue our Golden Gavel goals, we're also building something even more important: a pipeline of future chapter leaders who will continue the Dallas Chapter's tradition of excellence for years to come. Every volunteer experience provides an opportunity to meet fellow members, develop new skills, and strengthen your connection to the chapter.

We always have room for additional volunteers, and we always have opportunities to get involved. If you've ever considered becoming more active in Dallas ASHRAE, now is the perfect time. Whether it's a few hours or a larger commitment, there's a place for you on this team.

🌟 Exciting Events Ahead

As we move into the heart of the chapter year, keep an eye out for some outstanding upcoming events from several of our committees.

Our Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) group is planning opportunities for networking, professional development, and engagement with the next generation of industry leaders.

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee continues to create meaningful programs that strengthen connections across our membership and help ensure all voices are welcomed and represented within our chapter.

And our Membership Promotion (MP) team has exciting initiatives planned to help us grow our chapter, welcome new members, and encourage even greater participation throughout the year.

These programs are key to expanding our bench and ensuring the continued success of the Dallas Chapter. I encourage everyone to participate, bring a colleague, and get involved.
