A message from the PResident

Hello Dallas ASHRAE Family!

We are looking forward to a great 2025-2026 where we will focus on ASHRAE’s Vision of a “A healthy and sustainable built environment for all” and ASHRAE Society President Bill McQuade’s theme for the 2025-26 ASHRAE Society Year "Healthy Buildings: Designing for Life". The core thought is “Balancing energy efficiency with good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) ensures that buildings are not only environmentally sustainable but also conducive to the health and productivity of their occupants, creating a win-win situation for both people and the planet.” McQuade’s theme highlights the interplay between energy efficiency and IEQ and presents practical solutions to enhance air quality, thermal comfort, acoustics, lighting, and water quality in buildings.

I have been involved in ASHRAE for 30 years, starting out in Orlando, Florida. When I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2011, I attended Dallas ASHRAE (and ASPE DFW) chapter meetings to network and meet folks in the industry. In 2020, I volunteered to help out with the website, was selected to be the Government Affairs Committee Chair a few years later, and then elected onto Board the Governors. I am very proud to be engaged with such a great group of dedicated volunteers!

We have a sensational year planned with our annual Spring and Fall golf tournaments, a clay shoot, and membership promotion, YEA, WiA, and DEI events. A lineup of great speakers will present at our monthly technical dinner meetings and at our annual December joint meeting with the Fort Worth ASHRAE chapter that will cover Ethics. Our premier event will be a Panel discussion in January with the Fort Worth ASHRAE chapter, ASA, BOMA, and TEXO where we’ll discuss IEQ, ASHRAE Society’s theme for 2025-2026.

In April, the Dallas ASHRAE Board of Governors and select Committee Chairs will attend the Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) in Little Rock, Arkansas that includes workshops, technical sessions, technical tours, addresses by Society officers and staff, and regional award presentations.
