Research Promotion Update

Hello Fellow Dallas ASHRAE members!

I would like to send a special thanks to all of those who attended our very first Family Night at the Frisco Rough Riders and the event sponsors: Big Ass Fans, Spirotherm, Uponor, and Victaulic.  It was a great success - check out the pictures from the event on our main page!

Research is located at the very core of ASHRAE’s existence and is what drives our industry to continuously improve on how building systems work and how buildings are designed. ASHRAE research also allows for new developments in continuing education for members and non-members and in guidelines, standards and technical information which are utilized around the world.

This year, there are currently over 130 ASHRAE research projects around the world; 16 of which are from our region. These projects range anywhere from developing design tools for Surface Water Heat Pump Systems (Oklahoma State University) to the analysis of residential building code compliance on energy simulation (Texas A&M University).Without the role of the Research Promotions Chair and the annual  RP fundraising campaign ASHRAE would not be able to raise money for research projects, undergrad scholarships, the ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI) courses, and endowments.

As this year’s RP Chair, it is my pleasure to lead the charge in for the Dallas ASHRAE Chapter’s research campaign as we strive to reach our goal.

Please see below for a list of the RP events for the 2019-2020 Dallas ASHRAE.

If you would like to become a sponsor, donate, or help on the RP committee this year feel free to reach out to me or any member of the BOG.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the next chapter meeting and look forward to serving you as this year’s RP Chair.

Best Regards,

Matt Spears
ASHRAE Dallas Chapter RP Chair 2019-2020

  • oung Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) Leadership Training
  • Permanently endowed support to all of the above programs

The RP Campaign is overseen by the RP Committee, a standing ASHRAE Committee. The Committee is made up of 14 Regional Vice Chairs (RVC), 1 Consultant (past RVC) , 3 Vice Chairs (past Consultant), and Chair (past Vice Chair). Staff support includes a 3-member team based at ASHRAE Headquarters.
